After more than seven years at Equinix, I’m making a change. On February 1st, I’ll be starting as Team Lead and Product Owner at Topicus.

The Equinix chapter

When I joined Equinix back in 2019, I had no idea what the journey would look like. I started as a Deployment Engineer—hands-on, technical, focused on getting things done. Over time, that role evolved into something completely different: Product Owner.

The company transformed around me too. What was once a local team became part of a truly international organization. I learned what it means to collaborate across borders, time zones, and cultures. Working with colleagues from APAC, EMEA, and the Americas taught me more about communication and alignment than any training ever could.

Leaving a team like that isn’t easy. These are people I’ve worked alongside through challenges, deadlines, and the occasional celebration. The relationships built over seven years don’t just disappear because you change employers.

Why now

Sometimes you reach a point where comfort becomes the enemy of growth. Equinix gave me stability and opportunity, but I started feeling the pull of something new—the kind of challenge that makes you slightly nervous and excited at the same time.

There’s a line I keep coming back to: the best time to leave is when things are still good. Not when you’re burned out or frustrated, but when you have the energy to bring your best to something new.

What’s next

Topicus operates in the education sector, building software that impacts how schools and institutions work. That’s a domain that matters to me. Good tools in education have ripple effects that go far beyond the immediate users.

The role itself is a dual one: Team Lead and Product Owner. It combines people leadership with product vision—two sides of work I’ve come to enjoy at Equinix. I’ll be responsible not just for what we build, but for the team building it.

It’s a step into the unknown. Different company, different domain, different challenges. Exactly what I was looking for.

Staying connected

This blog will continue. If anything, I expect more content as I navigate new technical and organizational territory.

For those who want to follow the journey or stay in touch, you can find me on LinkedIn. And if our paths crossed at Equinix—thank you. The work we did together shaped who I am today.

Here’s to new chapters.
